Caramelized Chicken Wings


Usually I serve chicken wings for Sunday dinners, when you could slowly enjoy these flavorful and spicy pieces. And it is our family tradition to celebrate the Oscar Award Ceremony with such a comfy meal – delightful chicken wings and fresh vegetables with a healthy homemade Greek yogurt dip.

Traditionally, I am making two various trays of the wings with different spices and marinades. This Oscar was not an exception – I prepared sticky caramelized and spicy Cajun wings.

Caramelized wings are one of our family favorites. During the cooking process, or just after they become covered with a dark, sticky and slightly sweet caramel. The balance of flavor and taste is wonderful here. Sweet honey, salty soy sauce, sour ketchup, piquant garlic and hot cayenne pepper – all together, they provide an excellent taste. There is no way to stop eating these delicious chicken wings!

Caramelized Chicken Wings

4 servings


  • 2 – 3 lb chicken wings (about 12-18 pieces)
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ¾ – 1 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (or other vegetable)
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 large clove garlic, finely minced
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper



Wash and pat dry the chicken wings. Split them at the joints into three parts, saving tips for a chicken stock.

Preheat oven to 375 F (190 C).

In a bowl, mix all the ingredients except the wings.

Place the wings in a single layer on a baking sheet (lined with foil if you wish), or in a baking dish.

Pour the honey mixture over the wings.

Bake the wings for 45 minutes, turning once and basting them occasionally. The caramel should be formed.

If the wings still are still not dark gold, increase the oven temperature to 400 F (200 C), and cook for 5-10 minutes more.

Remove from the oven, let stand for 5 minutes.

The exact cooking time depends on the oven and the size of the wings.
