A lot of people think that making a good chocolate mousse from the scratch is very complicated.

In fact, this dessert is one of the easiest to prepare. Indeed, 15-20 minutes plus some cooling time – and you will be pleased to serve airy and silky chocolate mousse. This tasty and elegant dessert would be an ideal treat for the Valentine’s Day.

For a luxury presentation serve this mouthwatering dessert with a dollop of whipped cream, grated chocolate and/or berries

OR

slightly sprinkle the mousse with course sea salt granules.

Chocolate Mousse  

6-8 servings

Ingredients

  • 7 oz (200 g) semisweet chocolate
  • 3 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 2 tbsp very strong coffee
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 ¼ cup heavy whipping cream

 

Preparation

Break the chocolate into pieces.

Melt the chocolate in a water bath (put a heatproof bowl over a pot with boiling water. The water should not touch the bottom of the bowl).

Add powdered sugar, salt, coffee and egg yolks. Stir until smooth. Cool slightly.

While the chocolate is being cooled, whip the cream.

Add the cream to the chocolate, stir until smooth.

Fill glasses or ramekins with the chocolate mixture, cool in the refrigerator for at least one hour.

Before serving remove the mousse from the refrigerator and let it stay for 20-30 minutes.

Serve with a dollop of whipped cream, grated chocolate and / or berries

OR

Optionally, easy sprinkle the mousse with course sea salt.
