In my opinion, the dessert Pavlova is one of the best in the whole world. It is heavenly delicious and looks fantastic. And it is fairly easy to make. But I will talk about real Pavlova at another time. Today I would like to share one of a simpler or even the simplest delightful dessert.
Even though I am a pretty good baker, I like to serve this wonderful no-time dessert, especially when I am in a hurry, or very busy, and I need to be creative to set a holiday table (or dinner).
To make lazy Pavlova you need just three ingredients: a store-bought meringue (mine is from Trader’s Joe), whipped cream (I prefer homemade whipped heavy cream), and assorted berries.
You can go even further and add some nuts (pistachios, hazelnuts, almonds, pecans), cookies (a whole cookie looks attractive enough), shredded coconut, dried fruits, chocolate (chips or grated), citrus zest, jam, and touch of liquor (chocolate, hazelnut, almond, berry, or fruit). Just do not overdress the Pavlova. Less is better in this case. Serve it as individual portions in attractive wine or whiskey glasses, or ice cream bowls.
Another idea how to serve this dessert is to set a parlor. Explain your guests how to make lazy Pavlova, and let them help themselves. It is fun. Promise, everyone will have an enjoyable experience.
Everything can be prepared in advance and stored in containers.
In a bowl, whip the heavy cream for one minute. Add the sugar and continue whipping until the cream is thick but still creamy.
In a wine glass, ice cream bowl or ramekin, crumble up 1 meringue, add 1 ice cream scoop of whipped cream, and top with berries. Serve.
Cook with pleasure and enjoy the world!
