This versatile small snack, finger food, appetizer and hors d’oeuvre is perfect for all occasions: family celebrations, receptions, parties, and a Christmas or New Year’s table.

Mozzarella and olive skewers could be a last minute appetizer, when there is no time to cook or when you need to easily fill the appetizer portion of the menu.

I love these skewers. They are extremely tasty and also look spectacular. You can put them on a serving plate or tray; stick them into a loaf of bread, a cantaloupe or an orange half; or bouquet them in martini glasses.

Mozzarella and Olive Skewers. Last Minute Appetizer


1 skewer


  • 2-3 balls or cubes of fresh mozzarella
  • 2-3 olives (black olives in brine, green or a mixture)
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • A pinch of pasta seasoning, Italian seasoning, herbs de Provence or other to your taste



Skewer the mozzarella and olives, alternating between the two.

Transfer the skewers onto a plate or tray, drizzle with olive oil and lightly sprinkled with dry herbs.
