Well, it’s time to start thinking about Christmas cookies. Attractive and delicious homemade cookies can be a wonderful holiday gift and a nice addition to a dessert menu. I didn’t surprise you, right?

Peanut butter cookies are the simplest to make and are always in demand. Kids as well as adults love them. You don’t need extra effort to decorate these cookies – just press with a fork, and a nice pattern will appear. To make the cookies more elaborate a white or dark chocolate chip, a butterscotch chip, a peanut, or a piece of dry fruit can be inserted in the center of the cookie.

When I am talking about simple pleasures and family gathering I am also thinking about homemade peanut butter cookies.

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 375 F (190 C).

Slightly grease two cookie sheets with butter, oil or cooking spray.

In a mixer or a food processor combine butter, peanut butter, sugar, brown sugar, the egg, and vanilla extract until creamy.

Stir in the mixture of flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

With a cookie spoon, drop the dough onto greased cookie sheets. Flatten each cookie with a fork making a crisscross pattern.

OR

With a bottom of a measuring cup flatten cookies and press a white or dark chocolate chip, a butterscotch chip, a peanut, or a piece of dry fruit in the center of each cookie.

Bake for 10-12 minutes until light golden brown.

Transfer onto a cooling rack and cool completely.

Store in an airtight container.
