In fact, I have made two yogurt sauces.

The first one, with dill and garlic, I am making quite often. This sauce is very similar to tzatziki and extremely good with lamb, flat bread, lettuce and vegetables. Roasted, fried, and grilled vegetables are also great with it. As appetizer I serve my yogurt sauce as a dip for vegetables, and as a meal – with chicken wings.

Being passionate about culinary experiments I decided to try something new and came up with a delicious yellow yogurt sauce.

These refreshing sauces are great alternatives to mayonnaise and could be used as a base for sandwiches. Or add a spoon of this zesty sauce to a bowl of tortilla soup or borscht and you will enjoy a new taste.

White Yogurt Sauce

 

1 cup +

Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 medium clove garlic, finely minced or put through a press
  • 1-2 tbsp finely chopped fresh dill
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/8 – ¼  salt
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper
  • Black pepper

Yellow Yogurt Sauce-Dip

 

1 cup +

Ingredients

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 medium clove garlic, finely minced or put through a press
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh dill
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • ¼ tsp cumin
  • ¼ tsp paprika (optional)
  • 1/8 – ¼  salt
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper
  • Black pepper 

 

 

Preparation

Mix all the ingredients. The sauces could be served immediately, or better, keep them in a refrigerator for a few hours to blend and develop the flavors.

Store the sauces refrigerated in a container.
